  • MIAMI, FL— While you may not find too many genuine Florida pumpkins for Halloween, fall tradition for many families includes a visit to a local pumpkin patch. The coronavirus pandemic of 2020 has caused some of the region’s pumpkin patches to modify how they operate, but quite a few will be open this fall.

The goal was to provide families with a safe alternative for the annual tradition of pumpkin picking.

“We’re here today because so many things have changed during this pandemic,” said Broward Health Medical Center CEO Heather Havericak. “We know families aren’t going to be able to go to traditional fall festivals, and we wanted to recreate that experience here at Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital with a drive-thru pumpkin patch.”

Families got to enjoy free pumpkins, costumed characters and music.
